Learning Outcome #5 & 6

First Draft
Final Draft MLA Format

Handout from Class- MLA Formatting

Coming into the class, I already had prior knowledge of how to format my essays according to MLA. Although most of the time I need a refresher before submitting. During my first draft I incorrectly cited the in-text citations as highlighted on the first draft. I have a habit of putting the page number and then the paragraph number. After peer review, they pointed this local revision out, and I fixed it for my final draft. I normally follow the handout (see above) given to us before our first project as an example of how it should be set up. I constantly look back on it when completing my editing process to make sure it is updated. Normally, I don’t pay much attention to formatting and citing until I am proofreading my drafts. I also had a habit from high school of always having the font at 12-point and as Times New Roman, which is less work for me in the end. Editing according to the MLA formatting is one of the easier steps in my drafting process. Leaving it to the end allows me to make sure I look over everything one more time before submitting it. I do find this handout provided to us to be super helpful in my process. It has been a huge guidance when I need it at the end. In high school, I barely set my paper up this neatly for my final drafts, and I could never recall having my last name and the page number on the header. I do believe this class has benefited me throughout this process and allowed me to submit correctly formatted papers.
